Evan and Tamie Needham

It was on March 31, 2007 and it was the first Earth Hour where everyone turns the lights off for an hour. We were at home and I had been commentating rugby for the local ABC and Evan had been playing rugby so we were too exhausted to cook.
We got take-away from Nirvana and, as we usually do when we get take-away, I spread out a picnic blanket on our ottoman. I told Evan it was Earth Hour so we had to have the lights off and he said we should put out some candles so we could see what we were doing.
I didn’t think anything of it and when Evan went into the kitchen with the dishes I could hear him scratching around and I called out “have you got me some dessert?”.
He answered “I hope it is better than that” and he came around the corner with a ring in a box and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
