Go Natural
If a bride has never had her make-up done professionally - her wedding day should be something different. But that doesn’t mean she needs to look like a Las Vegas showgirl.
A polished, natural look is popular for Territory brides as it enables the make-up artist to accentuate the bride’s features while still allowing her to look like herself.
The idea is to look like a “shinier” version of yourself, according to Darwin make-up artist Kelli Trouchet, owner of NV Perfection Services.
Kelli said the most requested make-up look for brides is “polished, natural” with a natural, flawless base and enhanced eyes.
“The make-up should be a bit shinier or brighter but you don’t want to look like someone else,” she said.
Brides who want to create a bit of drama can opt for stronger contouring of the eyes with smoky eye shadows, complemented by nude lips.
Contoured eyebrows a slightly darker hue will frame the face and finish off the flawless look, while a luscious lip gloss is popular for a fresh look all day.
Vamp Make-up Artistry owner Lynn Finlay said shimmery, dewy cheeks are popular and more is sometimes better when it comes to blush, as sculptured facial contours add drama to the best wedding photographs.
False eyelashes are popular, with individual lashes adding more volume.
Some mobile beauticians, including Kelli, offer a “location service” on the wedding day, where they will meet the bride to re-touch her make-up before the wedding photographs start or on her arrival at the reception.
This service is usually charged out at an hourly rate so make sure you inquire before booking your hair and make-up team for a beautiful, flawless look all day.
