Hens and Bucks Dress-up
Trailing through nightclubs wearing a ball and chain or pink veil and clutching a cocktail the size of a goldfish bowl isn’t everyone’s idea of a great night out to farewell your years of singledom.
There are plenty of different ways to celebrate the traditional hens and bucks nights without finding yourself naked and tied to a pole the next morning.
While some like the attention and rowdiness of a night out on the town you can also celebrate with a boat cruise, pub crawl on a chartered bus, catered private party, hiring out a hotel room or dinner at a local restaurant.
Whichever party idea you decide dressing up or having a theme can inject a real element of fun.
Mates dressed as playboy bunnies and the groom-to-be masquerading as Hugh Hefner is a sure fire way to liven up a bucks night while a school girl or Bollywood theme can give the girls a good giggle.
Vikings any other “men behaving badly” themes have been a popular theme for Territory bucks nights, according to Penny’s Fancy Dress owner Heather Malone.
Other popular local hen’s party themes including princesses, “naughty but nice” girls, wig parties, uniforms and 80’s bridesmaids.
Heather believes having a themed for a fancy dress hen’s party or buck’s night is one of the best ways to break down the social barriers between friends and family.
“Darwin is very much a party town and part of a good party is adding a fancy dress theme,” Heather said. “When people dress up they can take on a different character and the theme creates a mutual talking point.”
