“It was 11.30pm on New Year’s Eve, 2007, and our son was in hospital with severe pneumonia. Chris was asked to leave the hospital as he had over stayed parent visiting hours.
The next day Chris returned to the hospital and I went home to do a few things before returning to the hospital. We were sitting on the bed watching the news and Chris asked me to pass him his bum-bag.
A few minutes later Chris pulls out a box from his bum-bag and turns to me on the bed, opens the box and says ‘Will you become Mrs Aresti?’ I was a little in shock and I started to giggle and I then said ‘yes’.”
